RAIS OBONGO-ANGA

Co-Chair

Dr Franchel-Rais OBONGO-ANGA is Chief of the Head and Neck Cancer and ENT Surgery Department in the Normandy Cancer Center, Henri-Becquerel, in Rouen (France). He is expert in head and neck cancer surgery, reconstruction, laser surgery and robot-assisted surgery.

Dr Obongo-Anga received his ENT specialisation medical degree with the highest honors from the University of Amiens Medical School (France). He completed his training in the University Hospital in Rouen (France), by observership at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London (England), as resident in Saint Luc University Clinics in Brussels (Belgium), and then an assistantship in the Eure & Seine Intercommunal Hospital as Head of Cancer Care and in Gustave Roussy Cancer Campus Grand Paris since 2016.

He holds an University Diploma of in ENT surgical anatomy, an University Diploma in micro-surgery, a medical degree in head and neck cancer, a Master II Surgical Science, Neuroscience option (Paris-Est University), an Inter University Diploma in head and neck radiology and an Inter University Diploma in robotic surgery.

His main fields of interest are development of strategy for prevention and early detection of head and neck tumors, laryngeal transplantation, immunology of oropharynx and oral cavity.

He participated in several national and international clinical studies, and integrated several scientific societies: French Head and Neck Cancer Society, GETTEC group, French ENT Society. He is a member of the regional cancer network “OncoNormandie” management board.  He has had publications and communications in French and International meetings.

On a personal level, he founded and chaired the charity association “NOTSHpeace” during several years.

Co-Chair

Pr. Bourhis has been Chairman of the Radiation Oncology at the Institute Gustave Roussy (Villejuif, France), one of the most prominent Cancer Centers in Europe, and moved in 2012 to the CHUV as Head of Radiation Oncology.

His clinical activity is focused on Radiation Oncology Head and Neck cancers, he is chairman of the GORTEC, a cooperative group dedicated to Head and Neck Oncology.

Pr. Bourhis has been for 15 years also Director of a laboratory dedicated to Translational Research in Radiation Oncology. He authored more than 300 scientific papers.

Pr. Bourhis is also Past President of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), Past President of the ESTRO Cancer Foundation and currently serves as SASRO President.
